Nasdaq shares jumped by 2.0% in pre-market trade after the company released its quarterly report, beating analyst expectations for revenue and earnings, recording double-digit growth across key lines and announcing a cash dividend.
The report released today confirmed Nasdaq's business resilience despite a weaker broad market.
Adjusted EPS came in at $1.07, well above consensus of roughly $0.97–$0.98. Net revenue reached $1.5bn, up 15% year-on-year and exceeding analysts' estimates.
By segment, the company posted record results. Capital Access Platforms generated $621m in revenue, up 19% year-on-year.
The fintech segment produced $539m, up 16%. The index business was particularly strong, with revenue rising by 38% y/y to $271m, supported by growth in assets under management in Nasdaq-branded ETF products and the high-profile inclusion of SpaceX in the Nasdaq 100 in early July.
The board declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.31 per share, payable on 25 September 2026, underscoring management's commitment to shareholder returns. Analysts were supportive before the print: TD Cowen raised its price target from $101 to $105, while Goldman Sachs and RBC Capital maintained positive ratings.
Nasdaq stock gain stands out against an unfavourable macro backdrop: the S&P 500 is down about 1.05%, the Dow Jones is off 1.17%, and the Nasdaq Composite is down roughly 1.56% in pre-market trade.
Pressure on the market stems from disappointing results at other large tech names, geopolitical tensions, and lingering uncertainty over the Fed's monetary policy path.
Peers such as Intercontinental Exchange and CME Group are also facing these crosswinds, so today's outperformance is a Nasdaq story rather than an industry-wide phenomenon.
What it means: an earnings beat, confident double-digit growth across all three business segments, stable dividends, and analyst support combined to push Nasdaq shares sharply higher despite the broad market retreat, reinforcing investor confidence in the company's diversified revenue model and its growing role as a global fintech platform.
