Visa on Tuesday announced a connection between its VisaNet settlement data and blockchain-based lending infrastructure, giving lenders a new way to finance the payment obligations of holders of stablecoin-linked cards. The company said the initiative allows settlement records on VisaNet to be combined with on-chain transaction data to assess borrowers and finance their settlement liabilities, potentially extending the role of on-chain lending well beyond pure crypto markets by embedding it directly into the payment settlement chain.

That is a boon for blockchain protocols, which will gain access to a far broader and more reliable dataset on corporate creditworthiness, but it simultaneously complicates life for traditional bank lenders whose monopoly on this type of financing is being eroded by a new class of on-chain competitors.

Rubaill Birvadker, Visa's head of growth and partnerships, said that stablecoins are changing how money moves and create an opportunity to rethink the financial infrastructure that supports payments. In other words, Visa is not merely adding another product to its suite; it is building a mechanism whereby the payment network itself becomes a source of credit-decision data historically available only to incumbent banks with a customer service history.

The move logically continues a strategy the company articulated in July after its third fiscal quarter, in which Visa said it would invest across each layer of the stablecoin stack—blockchains, wallets, infrastructure, and applications.

In my view, connecting VisaNet to on-chain lending marks a shift in stablecoins' role from niche payment instruments to full-fledged data sources for traditional financial analysis. That implies we can expect similar initiatives from Visa's competitors in coming quarters as they seek not to fall behind in the race to integrate blockchain into core settlement infrastructure.

Trading recommendations:

A technical outlook for BTC shows that buyers are targeting a return to $79,217, which opens a direct path to $81,300 and then to $83,600; a break above that level would signal attempts to restore a bull market. On the downside, expect buyers at $77,200; a move below that area can quickly drag BTC toward $75,300. A farther target on weakness is $72,800.

A technical outlook for Ethereum indicates that a confirmed hold above $2,503 opens a path to $2,557, with a farther target near $2,624; a break above that level will indicate strengthening bullish sentiment and renewed buyer interest. On the downside, expect buyers at $2,443; a drop below that area may quickly push ETH toward $2,385. The farthest target on weakness is $2,320.
