Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. — Petrobras is a semi-public Brazilian multinational oil corporation established in 1953. The main products of the company are oil, natural gas, petrochemical products and fertilizers. In terms of revenue, Petrobras (#PBR) is included in the Fortune Global 500 list.

The controlling stake in Petrobras (55.7%) belongs to the Brazilian government. The securities of the corporation are traded on the New York and Sao Paulo stock exchanges. Petrobras is included in the lists of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Сomposite indices.

In 2005, the number of the company shareholders reached 170,060. In 2010, Petrobras sold 2.4 billion new common shares and 1.87 billion new preferred shares worth $69.9 billion. According to analysts, this is the largest volume of the raised funds for one offering in the history of the stock market.

Recently, Petrobras has faced both corruption scandals and falling profits, which were especially difficult amid the collapse of oil prices. However, the corporation successfully solved the emerged problems, and now the situation is quite positive. This recovery was largely supported by rapid development of the Brazilian economy. According to experts, shares of the Brazilian companies are on the rise and considered quite attractive investment instruments despite their high volatility.

In mid-August 2017, the PBR shares reached $8.88 per share. At the beginning of the trading period the price was $8.68, the highest value reached $8.93 per share. During the reporting period, the Brazilian stock market demonstrated solid growth amid the development of real estate, industry and consumer goods sectors.
