Will-Spread = EMA (5, Spread) – EMA (20, Spread)
价差指标的主要使用方法是观察它穿过零线的方式。如果该指数向上穿过零线，上升趋势很可能会持续，当指数跌落零线以下，就会有一个明显的下降趋势。
作者以过滤器的观点提出在交易中使用该指标：当价差指标穿越零线时，操盘手应该等待紧随着信号而生成的条形图。在新生成的条形图高于/低于前一个的时候，操盘手应该开仓。不建议在条形图没有形成高/低的时候开仓。
计算价差指标的主要情况是选择的是对一种货币对最有影响力的金融资产。相邻市场最常见的资产是黄金，石油 (#CL)，S&P-500指数 (#SPX)，和日经-225指数 (#N225)。黄金和石油可以很容易的用于主流外汇货币对，而股票指数对于如美元/瑞郎和美元/日元等货币对在生成前导信号方面表现的更好。
