A Marussia F1 csapatot 2009-ben alapították. Az oroszországi versenyautógyár, a Marussia Motors címszponzorja és főrészvényese lett az angol-orosz csapatnak, amely 2012-ben már részt vett a Forma 1 bajnokságon. Így ez volt az első orosz csapat, amely az autóversenyzés csúcsára jutott.

The agreement on organizing a team was signed in May 2011 by the pilot of the Loprais team Ales Loprais and the Deputy Director General of InstaSpot Dmitry Savchenko.
