Twitter Inc. (#TWTR) is an American company, a social networking service for public exchange of short messages (up to 140 symbols). The message exchange is carried out through the web interface.

The company is rather young, but highly promising, according to experts. Its history started in March 2006. At first, Twitter was considered a research project of Odeo. The company’s head Jack Dorsey introduced the concept of an individual use of the SMS service for communication and became a pioneer in this sphere. About 40% of the Twitter staff is experienced technical professionals.

In November 2013, Twitter Inc. went public and started trading on the NYSE. The starting price per share was $45.1. The company is listed on the NYSE under the TWTR symbol.

As of December 2014, Twitter users totaled 500 million, 284 million of which were active accounts.

As of 2016, at least 82% of active users regularly visited Twitter. Monthly, 313 million active users visited Twitter.

By June 2017, the share price of Twitter was $16.67. The maximum price was $16.76. Investment opportunities of Twitter Inc. are quite high. An average monthly increase in the shares makes up 5.6 percent. Every year Twitter gains in more popularity.
